Thursday 5th December 2013, 7pm

Steve Jackson Matthew is an ecological consultant with almost 10 years’ experience in ecological consultancy.   After completing an MSci in Zoology at Glasgow University, he spent 8 years with EnviroCentre, developing it’s ecology team to a permanent team of 10.  He’s recently moved to LUC (Land Use Consultants) where he’s Head of UK Ecology.  Away from work, he’s a Trustee for Scottish Badgers and a Founding Member of the Association of Environmental and Ecological Clerks of Works.  He’s also spent time on CIEEM’s Scotland Committee.

Steve will be talking about the various routes into professional ecology, focussing on Ecological Consultancy.  He’ll be helping to dispel some of the myths associated with graduate roles and setting out the steps you can take to make your CV attractive to prospective employers.  He’ll also be Introducing LUC’s new internship programme, offering ZooSoc members an opportunity to prepare, and apply, for a 4 month paid internship with LUC’s ecology team next summer.

Join us for Steve’s talk on Thursday 5th December at 7pm (Room 412, Boyd Orr Building). Free cheese and wine will be provided in the Zoology Museum after the talk for all ZooSoc members.
